On August 6th through the 11th, 2007 we attended Kenneth Copeland’s Southwest Believer’s Convention in Fort Worth, Texas. The general speakers were Kenneth Copeland, Gloria Copeland, Jessie Duplantis, Jerry Savelle and Creflo Dollar. If we any had doubt about their integrity and more importantly their love for God the I AM, their love for His Word and their genuine love, care and concern for All peoples, that has been done away. I lack the words to adequately describe the humility these people live their lives. If it were to be ever our place to defend them we would be at the front of the line; and that place is not ours to take. God Almighty is their vindicator; they need none other. We know; we were there.
Since 2007, we have attended the 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 Southwest Believers Convention. This pilgrimage has become our vacation. We arrive the Saturday before so we can attend Eagle Mountain International Church on the campus of Kenneth Copeland Ministries in Newark, Texas about 20 miles north of downtown Fort Worth on the northwest side of Eagle Mountain Lake. At the end of the regular service there is a meet and greet for the e-members and out of town visitors where we have the opportunity to meet members of the Copeland family. So far we’ve met Pastors George and Terri (Copeland) Pearsons their son and daughter with their spouses; Steven and Kellie (Copeland) Swisher and most of her children and spouses as appropriate.
We have not yet met John and Marty Copeland except from afar or Kenneth and Gloria Copeland. And, we respect that.
We have made personal contact with several staff members of EMIC and KCM. The outcome of that so far is we can call them to hear a friendly voice and we have been able to volunteer for the street evangelism ministry that outreaches during convention week.
Over the past couple years, we have attended events in Arizona and California hosted by Steve and Kellie Swisher. They have always been warm and welcoming whenever we have met with them.
Additionally, we have been blessed to met, albeit in a book line, Creflo Dollar and Jesse Duplantis. On the convention floor I have the pleasure of meeting Nasir Siddiki at two conventions. We had the unexpected treat of the teaching presence of Keith Moore for SWBC 2011.
One question or point of ridicule that is always asked concerns money. In all our experience with KCM and its functions and associates, not once has KCM ever asked for or pleaded for money. Reasonably, the expense of hosting the SWBC is a bit staggering. So, yes offering collections are taken. BUT, never have I heard of any pressure from the platform that anyone must donate. The message is always, “if this is ministering to you then communicate that value to the ministry.” On Kenneth Copeland’s “Believers’ Voice of Victory”, his Holy Spirit lead policy on offerings is: that Fridays only are offering days and he makes it very clear that if you feel obligated to send money he says, “KEEP IT!”
